WELCOME TO ETHIOPIA
Selam! After your long journey, itβs time to rest, unwind, and soak in the vibrant energy of Addis Ababa. If youβre feeling adventurous, take a stroll through the bustling streets, enjoy the colorful markets, or simply settle into your hotel and watch the city come alive. In the evening, weβll gather for a warm welcome dinner at a local cultural house, sharing stories, flavors, and the anticipation of the adventure ahead.

FLY TO SAMERA & ERTA ALE VOLCANO
This morning, we take a short flight to Semera, the gateway to the otherworldly Danakil Depression. After meeting our local guides and enjoying breakfast, we set out into landscapes that feel almost lunarβvast, rugged, and mesmerizing. We stop for lunch in Afdera, then continue to base camp at the foot of the legendary Erta Ale volcano. As the sun begins to dip, we hike to the rim of the bubbling caldera, witnessing molten lava glow against the twilight skyβa sight both humbling and unforgettable.

SALT FLATS & LAKE KARUM
Rise early for an optional morning visit to the volcano before we journey across the endless salt flats, sparkling like diamonds under the Ethiopian sun. Along the way, observe local Afar communities harvesting salt, their camel caravans winding through the shimmering expanse. In the afternoon, cool off with a swim in the salty waters of Lake Karum, then watch the sunset paint the sky on the drive back to camp. Tonight, rest under a canopy of stars in one of the most remote corners of the world.

DALLOL: EARTHβS EXTREME LANDSCAPE
Today we explore Dallol, a place of surreal beauty where acidic hot springs bubble and vivid mineral terraces create a landscape unlike anywhere else on Earth. At 410 feet below sea level, itβs one of the hottest places on the planet, but the astonishing colors and textures make every step worth it. After a morning of photography and awe, we journey onward to Axum, a city steeped in history, where weβll settle in for the evening.

TIGRAY & THE CHURCH IN THE SKY
After breakfast, we head north into the dramatic cliffs of Tigray. Our destination is Abune Yemeta Guh, the βChurch in the Sky,β perched on a sandstone plateau and accessible only via narrow ledges and cliffside paths. For those who brave the climb, a breathtaking reward awaits: a 1,500-year-old church adorned with intricate frescoes, framed by expansive views of the rugged landscape. Descend and relax at our hotel, carrying with you memories of both adventure and awe.

HISTORICAL AXUM & RETURN TO ADDIS
This morning, explore the ancient wonders of Axum: towering stelae, sacred cathedrals, and the oldest Christian site in Africa, dating back to the 4th century. After a journey through millennia of history, we return to Addis Ababa for an evening of relaxation and reflection, preparing for the next chapter of our Ethiopian journey.

ARBA MINCH & DORZE VILLAGE
We take a morning flight to Arba Minch, a city framed by lush mountains and shimmering Rift Valley lakes. After settling into our lodge, we visit nearby natural springs, observing playful monkeys, baboons, warthogs, and colorful birds. In the afternoon, we explore Dorze village, known for its elephant-inspired huts and masterful weavers. Step inside a Dorze home, witness traditional dances, and experience a way of life that has endured for generations.

LAKE CHAMO & WILDLIFE EXPLORATION
Wake up to breathtaking views of Arba Minch from your lodge terrace before setting out to Lake Chamo. Glide along the waters and witness hippos surfacing, crocodiles sunning themselves, and flocks of vibrant birds dancing above. Return to the lodge for dinner, reflecting on the beauty and abundance of Ethiopiaβs natural world.

JOURNEY TO TURMI & THE HAMER TRIBE
After breakfast, we drive to Turmi, the gateway to the Omo Valley tribes. Upon arrival, we meet the Hamer tribe, known for their striking attire and ancient traditions. Witness their daily life, immerse yourself in the rhythm of the village, and enjoy a peaceful evening at the lodge.

THE KARO TRIBE & LOCAL MARKETS
This morning, we visit the Karo tribe, masters of intricate body painting using natural pigments. Learn the stories behind their designs and witness an art form passed through generations. Afterward, return to Turmi for lunch and explore the lively local markets, where colors, scents, and sounds blend in a vibrant tapestry of culture.

THE MURSI TRIBE & OMO VALLEY FAREWELL
Begin the day visiting the Mursi tribe, famous for their lip plates and unique traditions. Capture memories of their extraordinary culture and gain insight into a world so different, yet so rich in humanity. In the afternoon, we drive to Jinka, where weβll enjoy dinner and reflect on our transformative Omo Valley experience.

RETURN TO ADDIS & DEPARTURE
After breakfast, we begin our journey back to Addis Ababa. For most, this marks the end of an unforgettable journey through Ethiopiaβs extraordinary landscapes, ancient cultures, and living traditions. Those departing the next day can enjoy an optional free day in the city to shop, explore, or simply relax before heading home.
