Welcome to Oaxaca City! After settling in, immerse yourself in the heartbeat of the city by visiting the Zócalo. Explore the majestic cathedral and the historic Plaza Santo Domingo. Lose yourself in the colorful markets, and savor the local flavors in the famous Mercado 20 de Noviembre.

Today takes us to the ancient city of Monte Albán, a breathtaking Zapotec site that offers not only a glimpse into a powerful civilization but also panoramic views of the valleys below. After our private tour, we will delve into the culinary soul of Oaxaca with a hands-on experience that will elevate your appreciation for its world-famous mole negro.
We will spend the afternoon at a local outdoor kitchen learning every step of this dish. Together we’ll grind, roast, blend, and unlock the rich, complex layers of flavor that define this Oaxacan masterpiece. As we cook, we’ll indulge in chapulines, mezcal cocktails, and more.

Today we will visit the world famous village of Teotitlán del Valle, renowned for its exquisite handwoven textiles. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to meet local artisans and witness their time-honored techniques as we participate in a natural dyes workshop.
After our workshop, we will have a delicious lunch with the local community.
Our day continues with a deep dive into the world of mezcal. We’ll visit a traditional palenque, where you’ll learn about the meticulous process behind this iconic spirit, with plenty of opportunities to taste and enjoy.

Daytrip to the coast to discover Puerto Escondido!
Our day begins early with a scenic drive through the mountains, arriving in Puerto around 9:00 AM. We’ll head straight to the ocean for a morning boat ride, followed by a delicious seafood lunch and a relaxing afternoon on one of Mexico’s most famous beaches before returning to Oaxaca City in the evening.

On our last full day in the city, we will participate in a alebrije workshop and learn about the history behind this tradition and get the chance to paint your own!
We will spend the rest of our day exploring all the city has to offer before having our final group dinner in the evening.

After a final breakfast together, we begin our journeys home, carrying with us the unforgettable memories of beautiful Oaxaca.
