Itinerary
-
DAY 1 ARRIVAL TO COLOMBIA
Welcome to the lush heart of Colombia! Upon arrival at Pereira Airport, we'll journey to our peaceful lodge outside of Filandia. Enjoy a welcome lunch surrounded by rolling green hills, then either take the afternoon to relax on the property or head to town and start exploring Filandia's colorful streets and local artisan shops. We'll regroup for our first group dinner tonight!
-
DAY 2 HORSEBACK RIDING IN COCORA VALLEY
After breakfast, we set out early for the breathtaking Cocora Valley, home to Colombia's national tree: the wax palm. We'll horseback ride through the valley and stop for photo ops and breaks to take in the views. After our lunch stop, we'll explore the charming town of Salento before returning to the lodge for dinner.
-
DAY 3 CACAO EXPERIENCE
We'll have a relaxed morning and later breakfast today before our 1 hour drive to Casa Riviera Cacao. Here we will discover the origins of chocolate and savor its flavors straight from the source. Our in depth experience will teach you about the history of cacao in the Americas and the importance of sustainable agriculture. Lunch will be provided after the tour. We'll return to the lodge for some downtime before our group dinner tonight.
-
DAY 4 VOLCANIC HOT SPRINGS
We start early today with an early nature walk led by a local biologist, where we will learn about the region's rich biodiversity. Opportunity to see plenty of bird species, howler monkeys, frogs, and more!
We hike back to the lodge for a late breakfast and a free day to explore the property.
This afternoon, we will take a one hour drive to the volcanic hot springs. We aim to arrive before dusk to enjoy the sunset and evening hours surrounded the jungle. We'll stop by the nearby town for dinner before driving back to the lodge.
-
DAY 5 COFFEE FARM
After breakfast, we'll visit a local finca for an immersive coffee tour, where you'll learn every step of the process, from bean to cup! After leaving here, you'll understand why Quindío's coffee is considered among the best in the world. We return to town for a late lunch and then have a few hours of free time for souvenir shopping or exploring in town.
We'll regroup again to take part in one of Colombia's best traditions: tejo! This wildly fun national sport combines friendly competition, cold beers, and a little bit of adrenaline as you throw metal discs at clay targets that explode on impact. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, and it’s guaranteed to be one of the most memorable nights of the trip.
-
FREE DAY
Enjoy a relaxed free day on the property. Take a hike through the surrounding forest trails, unwind and rest before our journey tomorrow, or make one last visit into town. However you choose to spend it, this is the perfect moment to slow down and take in the sights and sounds of the cloud forest around you.
We'll gather for our final group dinner and goodbye party on site later this evening.
